This package includes 2 nights in the holiday capital of South Africa, Durban followed by 4 nights in a Game Lodge on the edge of Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park.
Durban is the capital city of KwaZulu-Natal Province, home of the famed Zulu Kingdom under the leadership of Shaka Zulu and site of enormous bloodshed in the wars between the British and the Boers. Durban, with its long white sand beachfront, stylish cafes, lively nightlife, good shopping and cultural attractions is the summer holiday capital of South Africa and a very pleasant place to spend a few days.
The package includes 4 x nights in either Zulu Nyala Private Game Lodge (standard packages) or Hluhluwe River Lodge (superior package) both situated on the edge of Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park, one of the Africa’s oldest reserves and famous for saving the Rhino species from extinction. The standard package includes open 4x4 game drives in both Hluhluwe Imfolozi as well as in its own private game park while the superior package includes all meals and open 4x4 game drives in Hluhluwe Imfolozi each day.

Itinerary
Day 1
On arrival at Durban airport you will be met by your Wild Africa Travel Company representative and transferred to your Durban hotel for your 2 night stay.
Day 2
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and taken on a guided tour of Durban. The tour will travel along the famous ‘Golden Mile’ beachfront, then proceed into the city centre with its grandiose colonial buildings and fascinating art deco architecture. The tour will then visit the Indian and herbal markets before travelling through the Cato Manor Township which has achieved world-wide acclaim from development specialists as a model for integrated development since the end of the apartheid regime. At the completion of the tour you will be dropped back at your hotel.
Day 3
Check out of your Durban hotel and you will be transferred by road to your lodge on the edge of Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park. The drive from Durban will take you through Zululand a truly evocative countryside with beautiful coastline, rolling lush hills and traditional settlements providing a memorable drive to your safari lodge. On arrival you will check into your lodge and have the remainder the afternoon to relax in your scenic surrounds.
Day 4 - 6
Your days can be as adventurous or as relaxing as you wish as you have the option of early morning and late afternoon game drives with experienced guides through the park. Other activities available from the lodges are guided walking tours, elephant tracking trails, river cruises, bird watching and mountain biking. You can also relax and wile away your time in the comforts of your lodge with its reading room, safari deck, bar, restaurant and swimming pool. A perfect opportunity to have the ideal “Out of Africa’ experience.
Day 7
This morning you will embark on your final game drive in the park before checking out of your lodge and being transferred to Durban airport.

City Lodge Hotel Durban
Lush gardens, palm trees and a pool with a gazebo lend a relaxed, summer feel to this hotel, as well as being only 2 blocks away from the main beach and 2 minutes from Durban’s CBD. It also has a mini gym and small meeting room for guest use.
Close to many different restaurants, within walking distance of the International Conference and Exhibition Centre, a 20 minute drive to Durban’s international airport and close to the N3 motorway ensures a very convenient location.
The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned with double bed or twin beds, television with M-Net and selected DStv channels, bathroom with bath and separate shower, tea and coffee making facilities, electronic safe large enough to accommodate a laptop and desk with lighting and plugs for easy connectivity

Zulu Nyala Heritage Lodge
Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve provides a unique and tantalising taste of the African bush, in the heart of one of South Africa's most diverse conservation regions. This small section of paradise is home to a wide variety of game from majestic elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard to abundant plains game and over 400 species of bird life. It is also a short drive to Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park which is one of the oldest parks in Africa, has the big 5 and is largely responsible for the survival of the Rhino.
Originally built in the 1940's, at the famous watering hole along the Lourenco Marques / Durban route, this gracious old lodge was purchased by Zulu Nyala in September 1996. The group has restored the building to its former colonial grandeur, enhanced with a delightfully decadent ambience and added new accommodation facilities, themed to highlight Zululand's own cultural development.

Protea Edward Hotel Durban

Hluhluwe River Lodge
Hluhluwe River Lodge is situated just 25 minutes from the Memorial Gate entrance of Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park and offers daily morning, evening and full day guided trips into the reserve. It offers an intimate and personalised lodge experience for 24 guests in a beautiful location overlooking Lake St Lucia.
There are 8 two sleeper standard chalets ideal for couples and two four sleeper family chalets all with en suite shower, vanity and private toilet. There are two spacious luxury suites tucked away in a quiet forest ravine and romantically appointed with a Victorian bath looking out into the forest. All the chalets have a wooden deck and African eclectic décor to compliment the use of wood, thatch and natural materials used in the buildings. Each room is fully air-conditioned and a full menu of wine, beer and malt is available for service to the rooms from the ‘Explorers’ bar at the main lodge. The lodge is equipped with a standby generator in the event of power failures and the chalets are connected to the main lodge with a network of well-lit paved pathways.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is highly recommended for the Durban & Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park to cover for irrecoverable prepaid travel costs incurred as a result of unforeseen circumstances. For example, if the passenger becomes unexpectedly ill and is unable to travel then the passenger will be able to recover the total costs of their Durban & Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park package.
