Itinerary
Day 1
On arrival at Windhoek airport you will be met by your Wild Africa Travel Company representative and transferred to your Windhoek hotel where you will check into your hotel room for your 1 night stay.
Day 2
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and your guided tour through southern Namibia will commence. You will travel via Rehoboth into the Kalahari Desert, a landscape far different from the “true” deserts of Namib & Sahara. The Kalahari is a semi-arid landscape that is covered with trees and crisscrossed with ephemeral rivers and fossil watercourses. After checking into your lodge you will be taken on an open vehicle drive as the sun sets on this unique landscape.
Day 3
This morning we will continue to drive through the Kalahari, heading south to the Quiver Tree Forest near Keettmanshoop. The Quiver trees or Kokerbooms got their name from their lightweight branches, which were formerly used as quivers by the San hunters. They removed the branches fibrous insides and were left with a strong hollow tube. After lunch we will continue on to Fish River Canyon and its spectacular northern fringes. Fish River, which joins the Orange River 70km south of the canyons has been gouging out this gorge for eons. The canyon measures 160km in length and up to 27km in width and the dramatic inner canyon reaches a depth of 550m.
Day 4
This morning commences on the edge of the Fish River Canyon, where we gaze 550 metres into this geographical phenomenon. Thereafter we travel down the Great Escarpment, into the stretched plains of the Namib Desert. You may also see some of the world’s only wild desert dwelling horses which live on these desert plains. This afternoon you will experience spectacular scenery as we drive along the southern peninsula to Luderitz. Luderitz is a surreal colonial relic sandwiched between the barren Namib Desert coast and the windswept South Atlantic. Barely touched by the 21st century it resembles the quintessential German village with its churches, bakeries, cafes and Art Nouveau architecture. The day will finish with a tour of this lovely town.
Day 5
After breakfast we will be on the road again travelling to Kolmanskop, a deserted diamond town and today a museum. We will then travel north to our lodge, situated in very close proximity to the breathtaking Sossusvlei.
Day 6
An early morning departure as you commence the guided tour to Sossusvlei. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer and you have the opportunity to climb one of the over 300 m high dunes leaving you overwhelmed with the view. In the afternoon you can relax in the comfortable surrounds of the lodge or undertake one of the many activities available.
Day 7
This morning you will leave your lodge in the Namib Desert and travel through the Kuiseb Canyon and north towards the coast enjoying a packed lunch on the way. On the drive you will see “Welwitschia mirabilis”, a plant said to grow older than 1,000 years and you will travel through the region known as Moon Landscape before arriving in Namibia’s most popular holiday destination, Swakopmund. With its seaside promenades, half-timbered homes and colonial era buildings, it seems that only the wind-blown sand and palm trees distinguish Swakopmund from holiday towns along Germany’s North Sea & Baltic coasts.
Day 8
Today we travel to Walvis Bay, home to one of the largest flock of Flamingo birds in Africa before travelling inland towards the towns of Usakos and Karibib, where we visit Henckert’s Centre. We will then travel further to the town of Okahandja, famous for the graves of several historical figures such as the Herero leader Willem Maherero, Nama leader Jan Jonker Afrikaner and Hosea Kustako, the father of Namibian independence. You will then travel to Windhoek and onwards to your next destination.

The Intu Afrika Kalahari Private Game Reserve is a 10 000 ha wildlife sanctuary located in the south-western region of the Kalahari, along the upper reaches of the Auob river system of Namibia. The expanse of the reserve is characterized by lofty ancient parallel red dunes sparsely covered by unique vegetation.
Zebra Lodge is a luxurious establishment, the cool interior reflecting casual comfort. This unique lodge can accommodate 26 guests in twin bedded rooms connected to the main lodge building. Each air-conditioned room has an en-suite bathroom with all modern conveniences and is furnished with an elegant simplicity that reminds one of a bygone era.

Canon Lodge Fish River Canyon
Cañon Lodge is located in Gondwana Cañon Park, only 20 km from the Fish River Canyon. The 25 en-suite chalets are thatched and built from natural stone. Nestled against massive granite boulders, you will feel that you are living in the lap of nature. Linger at the restaurant and take a closer look at the carefully arranged decoration from the pioneering days of farming. For exploring the park on your own the choice is between horse, four-wheel drive and walking stick. Or just relax with a book on our terrace shaded by trees or at the swimming pool. Seeing the winding gorges of the canyon from the air, from a Cessna, could well be the highlight of your holiday.

Sossusvlei Lodge
This luxurious desert resort was built with adobe bricks typical of Arabian villages and tents similar to those of the Bedouin. The lights are solar-powered and, as the 45 tented chalets have en-suite showers instead of baths, you can have a unique swim in the desert by splashing in the clear, cool pool. The rooms and bar have a marvelous desert view. Little has been sacrificed to luxury however. The restaurant has a fine German/ Namibian cuisine with fine South African wines. Reached by road and or air the Sossusvlei Lodge is not only the perfect base for balloon trips and tours to Sossusvlei and the Namib Naukluft Park, but also a wonderful holiday destination on its own.
