Itinerary
Day 1
You will be collected from Johannesburg and will travel through some of the most spectacular scenery South Africa has to offer as you move from the Highveld of Gauteng Province to the Lowveld regions of Mpumalanga Province. You will travel through Nelspruit, White River and Hazyview before entering the world famous Kruger National Park and spend the afternoon looking for the Big Five. This park has more recorded species of wildlife than any other African game reserve. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon with the smells of traditional South African cuisine filling the air.
Day 2
Enjoy breakfast before you enter the Park for a full day of game viewing activity. Your guide will endeavour to spoil you with sightings of the "Big Five", general game and prolific bird life. Stop at one of the rest camps for lunch (not included). Spend the rest of the afternoon in the park. There is nothing very distinctive about the topography of the park except in the northern reaches, where nine of Africa's major ecosystems meet and merge. Vegetation is mainly bushveld, varying from park-like grasslands to dense bush, especially in the rainy season. You will have so many opportunities to capture your experience on camera.
Day 3
Spend your last morning at leisure before you start your journey to Johannesburg via Graskop where we will have a lunch stop (not included), over Kowyn Pass to the small town of Pilgrimsrest. Pass through Lydenburg, Dullstroom and Belfast. Arrive in Johannesburg in the early evening at approximately 18h30.
Accommodations
Protea Hotel Kruger Gate From the time that you are welcomed to the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate under the towering indigenous portico upon the wooden board walk to the reception area, you will know that you're about to experience something different. It's the impression of being in a tree house, reinforced when you notice that the veranda and walkway to your air-conditioned room is at a level normally the sole domain of the variety of birds found in the area. Situated only 100 meters from the Paul Kruger Gate, the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate provides guests with the ideal location from which to experience wildlife first-hand - Surely, one of the most memorable moments of your visit will be dining in the open air Lapa Restaurant under the African stars.
Each of the comfortably appointed 96 luxury en-suite bedrooms and 7 six-sleeper fully equipped self-catering units at the 4-Star Protea Hotel Kruger Gate will make you feel part of the bush environment. For young and old alike, one of the most unique facilities is the Tree House, providing an opportunity to experience a sleep out under the stars, with calls of the wild drifting by. All rooms feature extras such as air conditioning, television, mini-bar fridge, personal tea and coffee making facilities and a spacious working area for the conference delegate or business traveller.
