9 Day Cape Highlights & Private Game Park Tour 

This package includes 3 nights in one the cities of the world, Cape Town followed by a 3 day guided tour along the picturesque garden route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth before finishing with 2 nights in a luxury private game reserve in the Eastern Cape.

Cape Town is one of the truly beautiful cities of the world and is a must see for any traveller to southern Africa. The city is dominated by the rugged and iconic Table Mountain around which the city has developed and with its stunning coastline, world famous vineyards and multiethnic and cosmopolitan population is a city to experience. A visit to Cape Town must also include a ferry ride and tour through the infamous prison on Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent more than 2 decades incarcerated. A former political prisoner will conduct your tour giving you an insight into their struggle and the condition they endured.

The Garden Route is one the highlights of any trip to South Africa with the range of topography, vegetation, wildlife and outdoor activities second to none and a truly breathtaking experience. Your guided tour by luxury vehicle will travel along Route 62 via Montagu and the Klein Karoo to Knysna. You will then spend 2 full days exploring the region including travelling to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. Here you will tour the vast limestone Cango Caves and visit one of the large ostrich farms before travelling to the quaint coastal city of Knysna. You will also spend a day in and around beautiful Knysna including a lagoon cruise to Featherbed Nature Reserve, a trailer ride to the top of Western Head and picturesque walk back through the milkwood trees. From Knysna you will travel through Tsitsikamma Forests and its spectacular road passes to the lovely coastal city of Port Elizabeth where you will spend your final night before travelling to your next destination.

Kariega Private Game Reserve is a 6000 hectare private game reserve set high above the spectacular Kariega River Valley and is home to the big 5 and a wealth of other native wildlife. Your stay at your lodge in the reserve includes twice daily 4 x open vehicle guided game drives in the park and daily game walks with an experienced guide as well as all meals including bush boma dinners under the stars.

Itinerary 

Day 1
On arrival at Cape Town airport you will be met by your Wild Africa Travel Company representative and transferred to your Cape Town hotel where you will check into your hotel room for your 3 night stay.

Day 2
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and taken on a half day guided tour of Table Mountain and Cape Town. You may wish to take the cable car to the top of the mountain for a breathtaking view of the city and its surrounding coastline. Your tour will then take you to the Malay Quarter, city centre, company gardens, Castle of Good Hope and the Diamond works. At the end of your tour you will be dropped back to your hotel. After lunch you will be collected and taken on a guided tour of the winelands region of the Western Cape including a walking tour of the stately colonial town of Stellenbosch. At the end of your tour you will be dropped back to your hotel.

Day 3 
This morning you will make your way to the V&A Waterfront for your ferry ride to Robben Island. On arrival at Robben Island you will be taken on a 45 minute guided coach tour of the island before entering the former maximum security prison for a tour with an ex political prisoner. On completion of this tour you will board your return ferry back to Cape Town.

Day 4
With our last sight of majestic Table Mountain, we wave good-bye to the 'Mother City' - Cape Town via Sir Lowry's Pass.  After travelling the plateau of expansive apple orchards in and around Grabouw, you arrive at the charming town of Swellendam and continue through the folded sandstone mountains of the Huis River and Tradouw Passes. Route 62 highlights the true diversity of landscapes and ever changing semi-desert areas of the Klein Karoo.  You will pass through the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp en-route to Oudtshoorn.

Day 5
After breakfast, you start the day with a visit to the world famous Cango Caves for a fully guided tour.  Time permitting an optional tour of the Crocodile and Cheetah Park is also available.  You will visit the Safari Ostrich Farm for a glimpse at how a working Ostrich farm works.  After lunch you will continue to George over the Outinqua Pass.  This is a lovely scenic drive as we travel via Dolphin Point to Wilderness and on to South Africa's "oyster capital" Knysna.  Enjoy dinner at one of the wonderful local restaurants that the Waterfront has to offer.

Day 6
This morning we will leave from Knysna and travel the remainder of the famed Garden Route to the coastal city of Port Elizabeth. The tour will stop in Tsitsikamma National Park which lies at the foot of the Tsitsikamma Range and is cut by rivers that have carved ravines into the ancient forest. The flora varies from huge stinkwood and yellowwood trees to ferns, lilies and proteas making it a spectacular area to walk through.

Day 7
Check out of your Port Elizabeth hotel and you will be transferred by road to your lodge in the Eastern Cape. Late afternoon you will taken on your first open vehicle game drive with your experienced guide searching for game as the sunsets before stopping for a sundowner & night game drive with high powered spotlight before returning to your lodge for a sumptuous bush boma dinner under the African stars.

Day 8
A full day to enjoy the private game reserve as you have the option of early morning and late afternoon/night game drives as well as daily bush walks with experienced guides through the park. Located on the Kariega River your stay also includes water activities such as river cruises, fishing and canoeing.

Day 9
Today you will be transferred to Port Elizabeth airport for your flight home or to your next destination in southern Africa.

Protea Hotel Riempies Estate
The Protea Hotel Riempie Estate lies secluded in a tranquil farm like setting on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, en-route to the Cango Caves. It is situated next door to the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Valley Of Ancients, within close proximity to numerous ostrich show farms. This Hotel offers unique and unconventional accommodation in thatched rondavels and chalets, located in lush green gardens. Travel insurance is highly recommended for the 9 Day Cape Highlights & Private Game Park Tour to cover for irrecoverable prepaid travel costs incurred as a result of unforeseen circumstances. For example, if the passenger becomes unexpectedly ill and is unable to travel then the passenger will be able to recover the total costs of their 9 Day Cape Highlights & Private Game Park Tour .

Please note every year Wild Africa Travel Company have passengers needing to cancel for many unforeseen reasons. Unfortunately Wild Africa Travel Company is helpless if the passenger has not taken out the appropriate travel insurance.

Travel Insurance is also very important for passengers on their travels as there can be situations where things may go wrong and travellers find themselves needing urgent medical assistance, help with replacing lost luggage, or assistance in making an urgent trip home.
