Etosha National Park Private Lodge

This package includes 4 nights in a luxury private lodge in Ongava Game Reserve and you have the choice of return air conditioned vehicle transfers from Windhoek (approx 4 hours drive) or return light aircraft transfers from Windhoek.

The Ongava Game Reserve is situated on the southern boundary of Etosha National Park, enabling large game such as elephant and lion to move between Etosha and the private reserve. Day and night wildlife-viewing drives, visiting hides that overlook waterholes and walks with experienced guides can all be enjoyed exclusively on this reserve. At Ongava the characteristic wildlife of the area is present, with both desert-adapted black and white rhino to be seen as well as lion. A highlight at Ongava is that it is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where there is a chance of seeing both black and white rhino. For those who enjoy close wildlife encounters, tracking white rhino on foot with a guide is a highlight not to be missed.

The package includes daily open vehicle game drives in Etosha National Park, one of the premier wildlife venues in Africa taking in more than 20,000 sq km and surrounding its namesake, the vast white & greenish coloured Etosha Pan. The vast park protects 114 mammal species, 340 bird species and 16 reptiles and amphibians. The park has a wonderful mix of open savannah and traditional African bush providing a wide array of wildlife.

Itinerary

Day 1
This morning you will either be collected in an air-conditioned vehicle and transferred by road to Ongava Game Reserve or board your light aircraft for your flight to Ongava Game Reserve. After checking in to either Ongava Lodge or Ongava Tented Camp you will be taken on a late afternoon open vehicle game drive in the private reserve before returning to the lodge for a bush boma dinner under the stars.

Day 2 to 4
You have 3 full days to enjoy the luxurious surrounds of your lodge and the diverse wildlife in both the private reserve and Etosha National Park. You have the opportunity of daily open vehicle game drives into the easily accessible Okaukuejo area of Etosha National Park rich with lion, elephant, gemsbok, springbok, red hartebeest, and white and black rhino. You can also experience day and night wildlife-viewing drives, visit hides that overlook waterholes and walks with experienced guides in Ongava Game Reserve.

Day 5
This morning you will enjoy your final wildlife experience and sumptuous breakfast before checking out of your lodge and being transferred either by air-conditioned vehicle or light aircraft to Windhoek.

Accommodations 

Ongava Lodge
Ongava Lodge is situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the privately owned Ongava Game Reserve. Ongava is the ideal place from which to base your activities when visiting Etosha.

Accommodation comprises twelve air-conditioned brick, rock and thatch chalets, each with en-suite facilities. Meals are either served in the main dining area under thatch with a view over the camp's water hole, or on the dining deck under the stars.

There are impressive views from the main lounge, pub and dining areas, as they are situated close to the top of the foothills of the Ondundozonanandana Range.

Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into the Okaukeujo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the waterholes in the park.

Ongava Tented Camp
Ongava Tented Camp is situated along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the 30,000-hectare, privately owned Ongava Game Reserve.

The small tented camp is built in a different sector of the reserve to Ongava Lodge. Accommodation comprises eight large comfortable walk-in tents, each with en-suite facilities, including flush toilet and a hot shower.

All meals are enjoyed in the thatched dining area and activities at this comfortable camp typically begin in the main area with its tranquil bar and swimming pool fronting onto a much frequented waterhole.

Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into the Okaukeujo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the waterholes in the park.

Other Recommendations

This package takes you to one of the best wildlife reserves of southern Africa and is a perfect add on to your other travel plans through the region. You may also wish to add further travel through Namibia such as the extreme sports capital of Swakopmund, or hiking through Fish River Canyon or get off the beaten track along the Skeleton Coast or visit the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei.

Travel insurance is highly recommended for the Etosha National Park Private Lodge Package to cover for irrecoverable prepaid travel costs incurred as a result of unforeseen circumstances. For example, if the passenger becomes unexpectedly ill and is unable to travel then the passenger will be able to recover the total costs of their Etosha National Park Safari package.

Please note every year Wild Africa Travel Company have passengers needing to cancel for many unforeseen reasons. Unfortunately Wild Africa Travel Company is helpless if the passenger has not taken out the appropriate travel insurance.

Travel Insurance is also very important for passengers on their travels as there can be situations where things may go wrong and travellers find themselves needing urgent medical assistance, help with replacing lost luggage, or assistance in making an urgent trip home. Travel insurance can provide coverage for these unforeseen circumstances and also provide peace of mind for the traveller.
