Northern Namibia & Etosha Tour
This package includes 1 night in Namibia's German influenced capital, Windhoek, followed by a 7 day tour along the Skeleton Coast from Swakopmund to the wondrous desert wilderness of Damaraland and finishing with a wonderful safari experience in Etosha National Park. This package provides you will the very best of the northern part of this fascinating country.
The Skeleton Coast is a seemingly endless stretch of foggy isolated beaches strewn with shipwrecks and flanked by wandering sand dunes. The tour will travel through this desert coastline on its way to Damaraland and the Kaokoveld.
Damaraland is named after the people that make up much of its population and its wide open spaces are home to many desert adapted species, including giraffes, zebras, lions, elephants and rhino's. The region is also rich in both natural and cultural attractions. The Kaokoveld is one of the last great wildernesses in southern Africa as well as home to the oft-photographed Himba people.
Etosha National Park is one of the premier wildlife venues in Africa taking in more than 20,000 sq km and surrounding its namesake, the vast white & greenish coloured Etosha Pan. The vast park protects 114 mammal species, 340 bird species and 16 reptiles and amphibians.

Itinerary
Day 1
On arrival at Windhoek airport you will be met by your Wild Africa Travel Company representative and transferred to your Windhoek hotel where you will check into your hotel room for your 1 night stay.
Day 2
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and your guided tour through northern Namibia will commence. You will travel via Gamsberg Pass towards the coast and a packed lunch will be enjoyed along this spectacular route. On the drive you will see “Welwitschia mirabilis”, a plant said to grow older than 1,000 years and you will travel through the region known as Moon Landscape before arriving in Namibia’s most popular holiday destination, Swakopmund. With its seaside promenades, half-timbered homes and colonial era buildings, it seems that only the wind-blown sand and palm trees distinguish Swakopmund from holiday towns along Germany’s North Sea & Baltic coasts.
Day 3
We will depart early morning on the salt road towards Henties Bay, past the many pans and array of spectacular birdlife. We will then visit Twyfelfontein, one of the most extensive galleries of rock art in Africa for a guided tour and then to organ pipes one of the regions best natural attractions. You will again enjoy a packed lunch as we continue our travels into Damaraland arriving at our remote lodge late afternoon.
Day 4
This morning you will depart from the lodge on a scenic drive down to the Klip River Valley where permanent springs provide water for the local population of zebras, antelopes and occasionally elephants and black rhinos. Springboks, kudu and oryx are a permanent fixture and even the nervous and shy klipspringers are sometimes seen leaping about on the steep cliffs of the mountain as if they were flying. You will return to the lodge for lunch and after lunch have the option of spending the afternoon at leisure or joining a guided walk where you will be introduced to the rich flora and fauna of the region.
Day 5
After breakfast we will depart the lodge and travel north to into Etosha National Park, where you will undertake the first guided game drive in this wildlife rich region of Africa. Just before sunset you will travel to the lovely private lodge on the outskirts of the National Park.
Day 6
Today is a full day of guided game viewing in Etosha National Park. In this dry landscape, Etosha's animals are dependent on the park's waterholes and natural springs and you will explore the various waterholes along this enormous salt pan, which is called the "great white place of water" in the local language.
Day 7
Another day of exploring the park and encountering the enormous variety of wildlife that exists in this region. There are 114 mammal species found in the park, with several being rare and endangered such as the black rhino and the black faced impala. Your guide will introduce you to the complex subject of managing such an enormous reserve. Tonight you will stay at a private lodge on the outskirts of the park.
Day 8
This morning you will depart Etosha National Park and travel south through Otjiwarongo and Okahandja visiting local villages and handicraft markets before arriving into Windhoek late afternoon.
Accommodation
Kalahari Sands Hotel Windhoek The Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino has a total of 173 rooms which are decorated to blend into their earthy surroundings. The colour scheme is taken from the golden hues of the dunes and combined with the reddish tones of the bushman paintings.
The rooms include air conditioning and heating, colour TV, video channel, radio, telephone, bath, shower, electric shaver plug (220 volts AC, 50 cycles), hairdryers, refrigerator, coffee making facilities, room service is available 24 hours per day, safety deposit boxes and mini bars.
The Dunes is an informal restaurant offering a daily buffet and carvery on Sundays. The choices are sublime and only the freshest ingredients are used. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Excellent yet informal selection of the A la carte menu is available. A section of the restaurant has been reserved for non-smokers. The terrace shaded by an awning, overlooks Independence Av.
The Oasis Bar is situated opposite the hotel reception, and is an ideal place for a cooling sundowner or rendezvous spot for hotel residents and the downtown Windhoek business community alike. The ambiance is warm and welcoming and our resident pianist is guaranteed to help you unwind.

Etosha Safari Camp is situated just 10 km south of Andersson Gate on the C 38 between Outjo and Okaukuejo.
Perched on a small hill 22 uniquely designed en-suite safari-bungalows offer a warm and creative African ambience. Each tented bungalow is decorated with artistically painted floors, metal and ceramic furniture created by local Namibian craftsmen.

Travel insurance is highly recommended for the Northern Namibia & Etosha Tour to cover for irrecoverable prepaid travel costs incurred as a result of unforeseen circumstances. For example, if the passenger becomes unexpectedly ill and is unable to travel then the passenger will be able to recover the total costs of their Northern Namibia Highlights Tour package.
Please note every year Wild Africa Travel Company have passengers needing to cancel for many unforeseen reasons. Unfortunately Wild Africa Travel Company is helpless if the passenger has not taken out the appropriate travel insurance.
Travel Insurance is also very important for passengers on their travels as there can be situations where things may go wrong and travellers find themselves needing urgent medical assistance, help with replacing lost luggage, or assistance in making an urgent trip home.
