The main lodge area consists of a large brick building with huge thatch roof in which the reception, management office, souvenir shop, kitchen, store rooms, a spacious lounge and the bar can be found. It has three large wooden viewing decks right on the river frontage from which guests can observe the animals in the area while drinks are served. One deck serves as restaurant. There are two swimming pools in green lush garden of which one is a splash pool for children and a big bush boma is located on the banks of the river.
The lodge has 8 chalets of which one a family unit with en-suite bathroom (rondavel type), 24hrs electricity and hot water. Each chalet sleeps 2 persons. Chalets come with either one queen-size double bed or 2 single beds with cotton sheets, duvet (extra blankets available) and mosquito nets. The family chalet has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds plus a lounge for relaxation. Furthermore 2 chairs, one table, bin, laundry bag, cupboard with both storage and hanging space, dresser table and mirror. Bathroom comes with shower, toilet, basin and mirror and hot water supply is via solar panels. Furthermore mineral water, mosquito coil, candle, matches, towels and soap are present. Busanga Plains Camp
Busanga Plains is a wetland area in the far northern region of Kafue National Park. During most of the year the Plains are flooded and make a perfect but inaccessible bird sanctuary. However, during the dry season (from July to November) the plains are accessible by four wheel drive and the vast open plains are ideal to spot wildlife and wildlife there is!
Ungulates to be found there include large groups of red lechwe, a semi-aquatic antelope, that are easy to see. Groups of the mighty roan antelope are present, as are huge herds of buffalo (up to 1000), groups of wildebeest, zebra and sometimes even eland. Lions are very abundant, not to mention cheetahs hunting for their prey in the open area or leopards roaming the tree lines bordering the plains.
The Plains Camp is run from Two Fig, a beautiful location in the middle of the plains. Because it is situated at the heart of the Busanga Plains, you can see big groups of Lechwe from the main boma area. But also, because it is perenially wet, it has a big fig tree and a forest of palm trees. During the short months that it is accessible, it ranks as one of Africa's most remote and most beautiful spots.
The camp consists of 4 furnished safari tents (sleeping 2 each) complete with en suite bathrooms. The size of the camp means that you will be given the most personal service possible. And it goes without saying that the food will match the service. Your stay on the plains will be memorable
