On May 2, seven Impala were killed in Kruger National Park by a delivery truck driver working for Shivers Contracting Company. Eyewitnesses claim the truck overtook a number of cars at high speed while driving towards Skukuza and could not stop in time to avoid the Impala that were on the road at the time.
The driver has been fined heavily by SANParks and one of their spokesman William Mabasa said ”
“SANParks not only grieves for the loss of the impala but is also saddened that such an incident took place in Kruger National Park, a protected area, which is meant for safeguarding of these animals,”
“We’d like to appeal to the public to always be on the look-out for all kinds of species while driving on the roads in Kruger National Park as they are a general site; therefore please remember that these animals have right of way,” he concluded.
