South Africa will join in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17 with Table Mountain joining a number of other iconic landmarks around the world and going green for the day. The mountain will be lit green using renewable energy.
“The initiative will not only put the spotlight on Cape Town as one of several cities around the globe marking this Irish celebration but will also highlight the invaluable work of Irish charities in South Africa, particularly in the Cape,” said Helen Fraser of Tourism Ireland South Africa.
Dignitaries from both Ireland & South Africa will celebrate the day with a function at V&A Waterfront where the Wheel of Excellence will also be coloured green. The celebration will honour the work of the many Irish charities that have been working in South Africa for many years.
